Keiona's Biography

Keiona L. Cook was born and raised on the south side of Chicago,IL.She grew up in a single parent home, where her mother Pamela Cook-Williams took care of her, her five sisters, and younger brother. Her mother being very artistic, taught Keiona to draw and hand sew.Since the age of 7yrs. Keiona could be found at kitchen table drawing women in fancy garments all the time. At sixteen they  moved to Minneapolis, MN. She found out she was pregnant and decided she had to at that point work twice as hard in school since she would be bringing a life into the world. Keiona attended North High School where her son was also able to attend daycare.

She developed a close relationship with her teacher, Gwen Onumah-Onikoro who later became her mentor and God- mother. Gwen's mother owned a quilt shop. At seventeen Keiona started sewing on the sewing machines at Peace by Piece quilt shop located in St. Paul, MN. She later went on a quilting retreat with her Gwen and her sister Patrica Lacy, who backup sang for the late Luther Vandross. At that retreat she totally fell in love with designing and sewing.

 In September of 1999 Keiona went on to attend college in Savannah, GA at the Savannah College of Art & Design.On May 30, 2003 she obtained her (B.F.A) Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design. She is currently the proud single mother and designer of her son Ken who loves her dearly and continues everyday to encourage her to be the best she can be and strive to be a famous designer.
